Well I got bad news with the spyderco salt , the h1 steel doesnt hold a good edge (or so my friend says) I am trying to find a spyderco folder that can hold a razor edge, thanks.

could you be a *bit* more specific? anyway if you look something in the same kind of size, try the Native S30v, that should fit your needs ;)

The D`allara is great, but a little large, don't know if you'd mind that.
But it's definitely the best deal.
The Centofante is my favorite budget Spyderco
followed by the native (either S30V or VG10).

And then there's the para and dodo, in S30V.

Both my Salt 1 and my Atlantic Salt hold an edge for a respectable amount of work.
I would'nt say that you can cut all day without resharpening, but what knife lets you do that anyway?

Sooner or later, you're going to need to re-sharpen your knife, and that's where the H-1 is very nice:
It is easy to sharpen and it gets an extremely fine edge.
I can get my H-1 blades sharper than I can get my VG-10 blades, and with much less effort on the Sharpmaker.

I'm not saying that your friend is wrong, but maybe you should check it out for yourself.

Good luck,
Allen.

This knife in S30V is super sharp and holds an edge very well, I like the Plain Edge and it is my EDC.

Wow thanks I'm very interested in the salt, military folder in spyder edge and a harpy and I'm buying a sharpmaker thanks for the help!

they say H-1 gets better as you sharpen it.

but if you want a new knife that can get sharp as hell, definately wait for the zdp189 delica.

Mmmh, don't trust you friend......:D.

H-1 definitely takes a razor edge. Doesn't hold it as long as VG-10 or S30V but it is definitely not bad.

H-1 doesn't have the edge retention of the premium steels, but that's a trade of for the amazing rust resistance.

If you want a Spyderco that gets scary sharp, and is probably one of their best designs, get the Paramilitary. It as it all, great handle, great flat ground blade and awesome lock.

If you want to spend less money, the Endura 4 and the D'Allara drop point are two of the best folders out there for around $45.

IMO, the Manix is the best, but I like big knives.

For most people, the Paramilitary is the all-star of the Spyderco team.

The ZDP-189 Calypso Jr. is a pocket laser and definitly a Spyderco legend. So the ZDP-189 Delica should be no different. I know I am getting one.

But be aware that the Compression-lock is'nt for everyone.
If you've never used a knife with the Compression-lock it would be best if you could try one out before buying.
I don't like it at all.

Good luck,
Allen.

I agree. I personally dislike the Compression lock.

Of all the Spyderco knives i own, the one that sees EDC is the original Military I purchased back in, I think, 1996. That was when they first came out. CPM440V flat ground blade. Excellent knife! No days I think they are using CPMS30V, instead of CPM440V. Just as good, if not better.

It tough to go wrong with any of Spyderco's VG-10 or CPM S30V blades. Of the 14 Spyderco knives I own, I haven't had one yet that won't take and hold a razors edge. My personal favorites are the Manix, Delica 4 (stainless), and Paramilitary.

Weight, size, thickness of handle have a lot to do with the knife one ends up with.
The Salt1 is very light and thin, but strong, H1 will get scary sharp fast. When I want an easy carry and laser cutting ability it's salt.

The Para, Native, Manix with the S30V steel will hold that edge a long time. However, be ready to spend some time with it afterwords, sharpening it.

Between these I like the Delica, Calypso Jr, D'Allara, with the VG10 which holds an edge near as well as S30V and is not as hard to sharpen as S30V.

I have had positive experiences with the 3rd generation models of the Endura. The improvements made on the 4th generation are worth it to me to buy them too.
