I work in an office, as do many of us, and the sheeple are extra-paranoid these days.

Which Spyderco is recommended as the most office-friendly?

I like the Kiwi and it has become my daily work carry knife for the same reason you state. I was a LEO for 24 yrs and still work with some of the same people but now I have a non law enforcement administrative job. I could have had a seven inch knife to take out a staple from a group of papers before and no one would have noticed. Now the same people thought a 3" blade was big. Go figure.

I don't work in an office but I work around plenty of them and I carry a Native III from time to time. Doesn't get too many raised eyebrows, at least not as many as my Military.

Personally I don't feel like I have a knife in my pocket if it doesn't have at least a 3" blade.

If you want unobtrusive while still using the pocket clip, the Dodo's narrow rear handle makes it look like a blue pen in your pocket rather than something TACTICAL.

The Dodo's blade shape makes it very useful for around-the-office chores like opening boxes, but I bet the Kiwi's straight blade might make a better letter opener.;)

I also think that the Kiwi is the best suited for office. It's a small and slim gentleman's folder. A disadvantage is that it has no clip.

I had a VERY long relationship with a plain edged Co Pilot in Stainless Steel. As it is Stainless, it has a little heft. I took the clip off and used a stone to soften the minor sharp edges such as on the back of the blade.

Now that Co Pilots are discontinued, they don't sell for very much. But, they are mighty fine knives. A similar knife the is the "Navigator" with a "Truffram" coated handle. It is similarly sized.

These knives with the short but wide blades seem to be so much more capable than a common "penknife". With the handle to blade length relationship you feel like you have more knife than the abbrieviated bladelength would indicate.

My favourite in-office carrier is the Toad.. has a clip, and its the smallest knife they have. the blade also resebles a box cutter so it is relatively inconspicuous. The Kiwi would also be good but has no clip and the handle is a bit small for me.

I don't think any knife short of a chainsaw would raise any more eyebrows than your avatar. :)

Meerkat, the very deep carry wire pocket clip is not apt to be seen as a knife. Short blade and design similar and almost the same as the Navigator. US made with 440c and thinner blade is my choice.

I carry a ladybug on my keychain at the office. It is the knife I use in the office when a knife is needed. It is looked on as handy and neat by my co-workers.

I have used and carried larger knives with 3" blades in the office and have been given scary looks by my co-workers. I now keep these buried deep in my pockets if I decide to carry them. Of course I always have my Spydercard in my wallet. :D

the matriarch ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H,,,,, i mean the Native. ;) Really, the native is small and benign-looking. any of the little ones really.

For looks and functionality the pefect office knife is the Kiwi, hands down. I also carry a Dodo for emergency and tough cutting chores. It does look like a pen when clipped, very nice. But no. 1 purely office knife is the Kiwi!

For office use and sheeple friendly another vote for the Kiwi. Everyone that has seen mine has loved it.
