Hey guys, I was just wondering what your guys opinions were on the 52100 carbon fiber pm2 and the Blurple s110v one. What one would be best for normal day use. I sharpen my knives, and I like to get them as sharp as possible. Rust is not an issue as it will not be used near moisture. Any other suggestions of good ones that are still available? Thanks guys!

Have to say I love my PM2 in M4 also ... but the CF scales aren't my favorite .. in a stainless the PM2 in S35VN would be my choice.

I've had the M4, 51200 an S110V. Got rid of the S110V because I stink at sharpening this particular steel. M4 for the win, with 51200 as a high quality second choice.

Because you said rust isn't an issue, I would go with one of the M4 variants. Maybe the Blade HQ Exclusive with white or "jade" scales if you can get your hands on one?

That being said, I prefer a stronger level of corrosion resistance so I have been looking at the red M390 JB Outman Exclusive. The Blurple S110V one is great too.

The you can buy easily. I’ve owned countless PM2 sprints over the years and was never able to get myself to use them because I knew they couldn’t be replaced so they sat in my safe untouched until I eventually sell them.

My plain s30v on the other hand has been carried everywhere.

A PM2 custom shop would be nice.

52100 is a whole lot easier to sharpen and will take a fabulous fine edge. S110V is a challenge to sharpen (you need diamond hones) but will hold an edge much longer, FWIW.

Ok guys, first of all, thanks so much for the replies! It helps me a lot. Next, it seems as if everyone loves the m4. That is number one for me to get. Next would most likely be the s110v. I have the following diamond stones: 220,320,600,800,1200,8000. Will these be sufficient? Thanks!

I'd want something in a lower grit if you plan on reprofiling. Not that you couldn't do it with what you have, it will just take awhile.

For daily use, any steel will work fine.
I have tested my s30v and pushed it to destruction and when I see the what I had to put it through for finally damage it, I think it can take any normal daily use.

I am not a fan of s30v by spderco so I may consider another steel.
At the moment I am very pleased with my s110v blurple version.
I think a non-stainless version can be great as I really enjoy the M4 on my GB2, but for a more "universal" use I would go stainless, maybe s35vn if sharepning is a problem for you.
