Which is, in your opinion, the best all purpose and camp folder among Spyderco models?
Bye

yep, Wegner.

maybe with the Military coming in second. i like the handle better but am leary of breaking the fine tip.

Metis

The Wegner by far.

Unfortunately it has been discontinued. :(

If price is a factor, the lightweight, plain-edged Endura. If, not, I'd choose a Wegner.

military in ATS-34 plain edge... kinda like the wegner, same construction, just a tad bigger and a sharper tip for fine work.
Military is more everyday for light and heavy work, while the wegner is more a camp/hunting tool because it excelles in skinning.

So my choice : military followed closely by the wegner.

I suppose it depends on what your idea of camping is--do you skin animals while camping?
If the answer's yes, then the Wegner would probably fit the bill.

I think the FRN Endura and the Military would both be great as general utility/camp knives. They have large blades and large comfortable handles and they don't weigh alot (less weight=pleasant hiking).

If you camp with horses or you raft alot then maybe the Rescue would be more appealling.

Good luck,
Allen.

For $60 i'm almost tempted to make it my "thing", but alas, I know I would almost never use it then.
I think John F Jensen sells PE Wegners for around $80

No votes for the Chinook? Count me in as a Chinook fan. Just nearly indestructible. Great belly for cutting...Pointy enough for fine work. No worry about breaking the tip off...Can't argue with any of the other choices...but, I would consider the Chinook....

Without a doubt the Jot Singh Khalsa; it's very versatile and although the design may seem awkward to carry it's a very practical knife.

The Military rocks as an outdoor folder. The grip is perfect, the lock is very reliable and strong, and the blade shape is quite good. I love the fact that it's so comfortable with work gloves on. My only gripe is the 440V. I really wish they'd put out a VG-10 version.

The Military is the ugliest knife in my collection, but sees more actual use than most.

The ProGrip II (stainless) is excellent if you prefer a slightly smaller knife.
