Best steel and grind for EB series?

If you guys were going to use one of the EB knives mainly as a pry bar, what steel and grind would you prefer? From the looks of it, the old hollow grind might be stronger for this due to its added thickness. Also, would it be preferable to get a steel that could maintain a higher Rockwell hardness (i.e. BG042 over S30V)?

please dont take this the wrong way. but dont use your knife for a pry bar. i have destroyed more then one knife if this fashion. for each task there is the right tool or plastique.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the advice - and I don't take it the wrong way - but I read somewhere back that the EBLT is one of the preferred knives among SWAT for breaching doors. Now, I'm no SWAT guy; nor do I plan to break into houses. But you never know, in an emergency situation in the city, you just might need to break into - or out of - something. Thus, my question. I am seriously considering getting an EBLT or EBLS to keep around the house for just such an emergency, and was wondering what might be the absolute strongest version of these knives. It looks like the old hollow grinds might be better for this task due to their thicker spines.

If your are going to use the EB I think either will work fine. Now as to the thought that you might destroy a Strider using it in this fashion.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry I dont know where that came from. HEHAHEAHEHAEHA

Wow that is kinda funny; these knives were made to be abused as pry bars or car disection tools. If you break it... HEHAEHAEHAEA Sorry... Please if you break it POST pictures of the door you were trying to breach... And if it is not a bank vault I would be suprised. Strider knives are tools, entry, exit, removal of human tissue or life, pry bar, letter opener, car carving tools.... Your imagination, Your knife.... Have FUN. Break it? take your best shot. If you do, post the pics here and send Mick and Duane your pieces for proper burial. Now if in all this fun you remove one or more of your digits we take no resposibility for your actions ours are hard enough to live up too.... ehaheheahhehaehahehehahhaheahaheahehahehaehhaeha Break a Strider you a funny guy...

Ad, by the way I am not a Spokesman for Strider I am only a buyer and user. Also most of this was for the gentleman who answered your thought.

W, do you own a Strider??? If not buy one and try it before you comment... If you do own a Strider ....Do you use it? or is it just nice looking on your wall??? Which by the way is fine if you choose to keep it in the most pristine shape...
