Having forged scrap metal for about a year to gain some skill, I'm ready now for some name brand steel. I'd like to get some A2, 1080, 1095 and 5160 for different projects. Lots of places sell some of these for big money because their stock is precision ground, which I don't need. What are some good, cheap sources?

i`d like to know too...it`s hard to find a-2 here.

i keep grinding and grinding and it is still too short!!

I think admiral is a great source for steel. They have added quite a few steels to their inventory in the last year.

I don't forge, I just grind and they accomodate all the steel I need. As far as the steels you're looking at:

They list 15N20, 5160, A-2, D-2, HR 1084, HR 1095, CRA 1095 and HR 5160.

You can find them at (800) 323-7055 or

http://www.admiralsteel.com

Good luck
