Best stripper for a Sage FFFBM?

Hey guys,

I've got a Sage FFFBM on the way, and I'm not particularly keen on coated Busse's. Don't have the cash for an LE, though.

What's the best paint stripping compound to use? Think Home Depot or Rona. Are there any to avoid?

I think the stripped Mistress will be a nice addition to the lineup - I've got a Satin GW, a BATAC LE, and a DC ASH-1. A wide variety of bare-metal finishes. :)

Thanks!

Brad

I've used the orange stuff on a few blades from other manufacturers. It worked really good, and even smelled OK.

Brad, I think any "heavy duty" stripper will do... The "commercial strength" gels work well.

I'll try to look and see what brand I've used (got mine at Ace Hardware.)

I like Angel Divine at the Cheetah in Atlanta.

PH - Tyrkon has some links in the pictorial section on Mistress stripping . I'm getting a server error at the moment but here's the link if you're interested and haven't seen it http://tyrkonsmain.blogspot.com/. I think he used Strypeeze or something with an equally clever name :)

Are there any problems with using stripper on a Battle Mistress with G-10 handles?

No

I used Strypeeze with very good effect. I got it at Westlake pretty cheap. All the supplies to strip several knives was like $23--strypeeze, heavy duty gloves, plastic scrapper, heavy duty nylon bristled brush, and a cheap brush to apply the stripper. Piece of cake.

I went home and checked to see which Klean-Strip product I used on my blades. It's the KS-3 Premium Stripper. It's taken the black crinkle off of some of my Rats and Busses in about 30 seconds. You may have to reapply to some of the harder to reach areas, but it makes the process very easy. Won't harm micarta or Res-C either. I doubt it would do any damage to G-10 either, but I don't know for sure.

I just tried Polystrippa from Canadian Tire on my Ratmandu and was not very impressed. The heavy duty cheap stuff (can't recall the name but it was the cheapest) from Home Depot worked much better on my Active Duty.
