I was looking around for a stropping compound and I'm not exactly sure as to which one I should choose, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations? I am a noobie when it comes to sharpening.

Best at what exactly? I find I like diamonds since it's one of the hardest materials and can cut steels with vanadium carbides much faster. Though Chromium Oxide paste and others are good for loading onto power tools for power stropping, whereas diamonds wouldn't stay on as well nor are they cost effective when used as such.

This is one of those questions that gets asked like 2-3 times a week. If you were to do a search for stropping compound in this subforum, you could find some really good threads where the questions have been asked and thoroughly answered.

Diamond would be my first pick, as it can polish any steel, and assuming the edge is ready for stropping. If it isn't, then no amount of stropping will improve it, regardless of the compound used.

I've used chromium oxide (green stick) from Lee Valley Tools for a couple of decades. Works great, lasts almost forever.
