i bought a strop and I got a white, and green compound with it. but I don't know much about them and how they work on high quality steel. Does anyone have a kind they prefer that will work well on a strop for touching up, or finishing off after honing? I have two knives one with CMP-S30V and ZDP-189 if that makes any difference for a compound to use. its also a 2 sided strop one side coarse the other fine. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Green most likely is Chromium Oxide, as usual 0.50mic grains. Works well on all sorts of alloys.
Next step would be 0.25 mic diamond spray, for further refinement and then 0.10 mis diamond spray.

If you want very high polish, you might wanna throw in 0.30mic Al oxide abrasive, somehow I get really good results using 0.30 between 0.50 and 0.25 mic microabrasives.

is 1 micron harmful for the blade? is that to high I can't find very many places to buy the diamond spray.

1 micron is coarse compared to many of the other sprays, but if it is a lower particle size than your last stone/belt then it will sharpen.
