With my moderate collection of black knives,
very few of them are good for cleaning fingernails. Only my Case lockback does this
job decently.

Are there any other locking folders that excel at this mundane but very important and
frequent task?

Depends on the atire and location.

In 'polite' company, I would use a Mini AFCK or a Ka-Bar D2 folder.

In a normal situation something along the lines of a 710 or a 750 (Benchmade)or a Spyderco Military

Now if you are looking to scare people, try a Cold Steel Vaq Grande or a MT LCC D/A or failing that a CRK&T Seahawk (fully serrated)

Reactions would be...

1. CSVG= **** ME!!!
2. LCC D/A (Kuchung open) O M G GOD!!!
3. Seahawk=*backs off VERY quickly

Otherwise, why bother with a tac knife? Just use a Leatherman Micra like the rest of us that don't want headless sheeple running about screaming "Danger Will Robinson DANGER!!!"

Just a bit of fun.

I use my Cold Steel Vaquero Grande to clean MY fingernails with. (They get VERY clean, and also scare the hell out of any "sheeple" who might be watching.).

I like the awl on my Leatherman; it's not so sharp that I'm worried about cutting myself if I poke too hard.

Ron,

Don't you know that those DANGEROUS automatic knives are frowned-upon here in our great state of Washington???.

I never leave the house without two folders in my pocket. I carry my DDR MADD MAXX in my right front and a Spyderco mini Dyad in my left. It is hard to beat the needle point of the MADD MAXX for a delicate job, but the Dyad does! I have not found a better fingernail knife, splinter retreiving knife, all around do most anything knife than the little spydie.

Well, it depends...are they your fingernails or someone else's?
Are they still attached to the fingers?
Are the fingers still attached to the hands?
It just depends...

Fromo what I've read, the Buck Strider might be worse, but much as I hate to admit it, few knives could be worse at manicure than the M16-14. Would think that any lengthy blade is going to necessitate holding the knife by the blade, not a practice to be recommended.

Damn! Just found design flaw on my Spydie Walker. What appears to be the end of the choil is, in fact, the first of the serrations. I think this little knife would do well on fingernails. May report back later, when I've bandaged up.

First choice: Rekat Sifu (everyday carry knife)Second agree with Glockman C/S Vaquero Grande. Although you have to also have a tooth pick and start saying "what we have here is a failure to communicate"

Most people wouldn't stick around long enought to see how clean the nails are.
Seriously, one of those cute little swiss army knives (with file)

well, I get good use from a Spyderco Ladybug.
It is the right size for the job.
I get a lot a crazy looks if I use my Spyderco Chinook though!

This sounds like a job for CHANGMAN!!!

Maybe we can talk Mr. Chang into developing a Changmade Tactical Under Fingernail Folder, TUFF?

Whaddya say Eric?

"You try scrubbing them out and you still get ring around the collar" Ooops wrong ad. Nothing beats cleaning ones fingernails while riding on the local subway line like a 13" Italian Switchblade. I think people must agree cause they move away pretty quick to avoid having fingernail gunk flung on them.
