Ok so my packing list has a recomended section:

NOMEX gloves.

I was wondering if any of you knew the best/comfortable all black gloves I can get for use in the ARMY.

My primary concern is toughness to use in the field, but I dont like bulk, I want to be able to operate my weapon and have the dexterity of my fingers. I also dont necessarily like heat either.

So I need a pair of tough gloves that are thinner

But I also need another pair for the cold but at the same time do not compromise movement in my fingers.

Any suggestions on brand and models?

I would like to know the same as well with the added condition that they work for grabbing really hot things without burning me.

If you are in the Army and using a suppressor, gloves that protect your flesh from that hot can can be a life saver because burns really hurt in the field.

How about these?

I would think any of the rappelling gloves should be well-suited in that respect, as any quick rappel gloves that don't insulate well against heat are pretty freaking useless.

i do theatre and that is lots of set building and lighting work on my hands so i have 2 pairs of gloves a tough leather pair $4.99ish... and a pair of mechanics gloves they range from 17.99-alot.....i just got a pair of stanly ones they work great and are tought for me at least...

rappelling gloves usually give very little dexterity
i was under the impression u wore normal tactical gloves underneath so you could shuck the rapelling ones off once u hit the ground

i used to have a pair of bhi stealth aviators
lotsa finger dexterity, but not so durable
lasted me a total of 5 months and started coming apart

im using this pair now
nice? and it's 50% off

I just finished looking around a little, checkout the other gloves that are similar in style. I found some longer Gauntlet style that should work real well.

As far as though, durable gloves that still allow you to use your fingers..... .My vote goes to

Mechanix Brand. They make a nomex glove (still have visible logo though) that is a wonderful glove. I've used mine in Iraq and they're about to head to Afghanistan this fall.

British Army NI (Northern Ireland) Gloves are pretty good. They MAY be a little warmer than youre looking for, but they allow pretty good dexterity & the padded knuckles (originally designed to protect your hands when the "boyos" were chucking bricks & paving slabs!) are a useful touch for FIBUA duties. They may be worth a look?

I strongly advice MECHANIX WEAR TACTICAL MULTICAM M-PACT . These Mechanix multi-cam M-Pact tactical gloves are high quality and hard wearing. They are durable enough to last you many years and they have been designed to keep your hands comfortable, protected and cool, even in the harshest of tactical situations. To protect your fingers from high impacts, these gloves have an injection-molded knuckle guard. This guard prevents your fingers from being cut or damaged due to high impact activities. There is additional reinforcement to the fingertips so that your fingers can be completely protected.

High quality and thick palm padding ensure that your palms will not take the impact from knocks or vibrations and the leather palm sections offer you toughness and traction whilst you’re on your mission. The trek dry material with MultiCam camouflage is form fitting for a perfect fit whilst these gloves are fully machine washable so that you can keep them in the best condition for as long as possible.

Be sure to check the last post's date before replying. This is an 11 year old thread...

Nonetheless, the older info does need updating.

For Nomex, issue gloves are the best value, but you have to shop it. And the Army doesn't issue silencers to just everybody, so if you have one in the service, I might suggest they will give you the gloves to go with it. Or you can get the same kind your team mates wear.

I will also suggest that if you are using a silencer, there's no need to take it off until you need to clean it. Once on you keep it on for the duration of the mission kind of thing. If it's too hot - fry bacon on it.

Since the adoption of the Army and moving to Scorpion/Multicam then black gloves are no longer all that. The issue cold weather leather ones are good enough and commonly available, they do lack dexterity and they are oversized to fit the wool undergloves. Rappelling gloves are usually unit issue and actually hard to find, basically a much heavier version of the black glove with double palm and fingers. One long rappel and even they get warm. Being as the last thing you need is dead weight on a mission then toting extra gloves to do ? Remove the silencer? Not. You dump every ounce and carry more ammo, is what you do.

For moderate weather I've been wearing Mechanix gloves in the standard weight and they will range down into the 40's even on a static position. Moving in the afternoon sunlight into the 60's they get warm. The Impact model is nice to have - but not actually insulated. Meh. In cold wet nothing works very well unless it's neoprene or wool. Keep that in mind, we have a decade of experience with dry hot combat but there's no reason to expect the next blowup in those conditions.

Old threads get resurrected by those who aren't looking at the dates.

I've had good luck with both Hatch and Mechanix gloves. I like the Hatch more but the Mechanix are sure easier to find.

PIG Gloves from SKD Tactical (when they have a sale preferably or another online dealer). They have a few different models depending on your needs. All the brands above are great choices, but these PIG's are worth a look, more expensive, but worth it IMHO.
