Best Tactical/Urban Gloves?

I'm looking for a pair of black tactical/urban gloves, preferably mostly black leather but other materials are good as well. I work in the nightclub industry and would like a pair of gloves that are cut resistant as I've been attacked before by some drunkard that we had to toss out.

Something in the $20 - $40 is the range I'd like to keep it within. I'd like to retain as much sensation and dexterity as possible. Also, it'd be great if the gloves had a bit of insulation as I live in an area that is cold for a significant portion of the year.

So far I've looked at some 5.11, Blackhawk, and Hatch. I have small hands so the gloves need to be available in S or XS.

I look forward to reading any of the responses. Thanks guys!

I have some of the top model of the Hatch Friskmasters. They look more like a regular glove than those in the preceding post (although those look damn sturdy and I would like to try some). The Hatches are comfy and dexterity is pretty good with them on.

More than you wanted to pay, but I highly recommend them.

Oh damn. Those are some seriously no non-sense gloves. As much as it would be great to have them, I need a pair of gloves that doesn't have molded knuckles. I've actually been looking at the base model Blackhawk SOLAG's. They look fairly sturdy and seem to have some padding.

I will be wearing these gloves more than just when at night by the clubs if that helps.

That's what I have, but I bought them before the extended cuff version was offered. As mentioned above, they are quite flexible and offer good dexterity.

Your results may vary...

Keep that in mind.

Oakley, Hatch, Blackhawk (5.11 is pure crap these days, stay away)

I've burned through each of those in under three months a piece, Blackhawks tended to hold up a hair better but I knew people that blasted through them in under two months.

The best option I can give you as it seems your looking for a tacticool glove with no real actual purpose is one thats already stated, the mechanix gloves.

At around $20 a pair your going to get a nice pair of gloves that will handle what you throw at it, I wore a pair of Mechanix classic gloves (with the non "shoot me" white lettering, got a pair with the subdued gray) and they would last right around 3 months as well...But at 1/3 of the cost of a pair of Blackhawks it was far easier to stomach. For cold weather I would get a pair a size larger then I wore and stuck some underarmor gloves on underneath them

Keep in mind the 3 month figure is beyond what you will ever put your gloves through unless your a roughneck and then in which case you'd be getting about the same figure. If your running around playing mall ninja you can expect a long lifespan on the gloves as they won't be seeing any "true" hard use.

Just a FYI - Some of the hard knuckle gloves are classified the same as brass knucks/Sap gloves in some states. Check local laws and don't be a dumbass.

That's why I'm not looking for a pair with molded knuckles. I managed to find Blackhawk SOLAG's for sale for 28.99 the other day but I wanted to see what the people on BF thought first.

If its just civvy use pull the trigger for that price. Just don't get the half finger version and make sure it isn't the airsoft copy thats floating around.

Mechanix gloves do the trick and you can find them locally and test fit them. Blackhawks are my choice on hard use gloves when I can afford them, when I was burning through them I switched over to Mechanix gloves just to save a little bit. Didn't offer the same protection as the SOLAGs but offered a better "feel" when it came the trigger.

The Mechanix phase ended though when I realized I needed something with nomex (didn't know at the time that there was a nomex version of the Mechanix gloves).

Just a FYI - Stay away from the "Commando" gloves unless your used to wearing leather work gloves (with no wrist closure) I prefer a velcro wrist closure as I have thinner wrists and I hate a glove that allows crap to fall into it. Also "HD" Solags are the hard knuckle version, never tried them so I don't know anything about them.

When I was bouncing (Quit two years ago) I wore a pair of Oakleys. http://www.oakley.com/catalog/products/factory-pilot-glove-w-leather-palm

They were nice and light and the knuckles would give a lot of guys the excuse to not cause a problem when I asked them to leave. I wanted a set made of kevlar and now have them in the aforementioned SOLAGs. I wear them everywhere and only one person has ever mentioned them and that was at a show. They politely asked me not to punch anyone. As I ride a motorcycle I have found the hard knuckles to be indespensable. And it is also my excuse if anyone has a problem with it.

I have owned many typed of gloves and highly recommend the SOLAGs of all types.

Stop teasing me with the "tacticool" knuckles and all these patterns on the gloves. I can't reasonably wear something like that on a regular basis and often times I don't have the time or the chance to swap out one pair of gloves for another. :/

I'm giving some legitimate thought to the Hatch gloves with the extended cuff just because I did have this one pair of leather gloves that I really liked for wearing all the time.

Then again.. the SOLAG's are pretty BAMF for what I'm looking for.

This decision really isn't getting much easier. I still want like four pairs of gloves. On the bright side, I ordered a 4Sevens Quark Mini 123 last night. :D

I mean, at this point I'm pretty sure that I'm going to go for a pair of Hatch gloves for day to day use and just spend the extra $30 for the SOLAG's I found as well. I imagine it can't hurt to own two pairs of gloves.

The Oakley's looked pretty serious though.

Damascus Gloves are an incredible buy. I bought 3 pair and spent less than $30. They had them on their site in the clearance section.
