I know this topic has probably been beat to death, but with the influx of new products on the market, I though I would ask what you all think. My choices are in no specific order:

Benchamde 550s (my new EDC)
MT mini SOCOM
REKAT Pioneer II
Cold Steel Gunsite II
Spyderco Endura
CRKT KFF
There are so many others out there that I like, but these are the ones that catch my eye. Excellent values IMHO

haven't handled it yet, but that new axis looks very nice for the price, i can imagine when i finally pick one up it will be an everyday carry along with the large sebenza
you can't go wrong with an endura though.

I own an Endura, and it would be a good choice. Tough, dependable, and sharp. The other knives mentioned are good choices also, so why not get an Endura, and just go down the list in the months to come.

Pioneer II's got my vote. Stout, tough, awesome little blade. I've personally put mine through hell and it just begs for more. If you want something that will have to repeatedly cut very tough or fibrous material though, I'd go with a serrated spydie.

Buy a M-SOCOM and a Pioneer II, Mike is selling off overstock right now. I just bought a Pioneer II today for $49.99 and he's got several M-SOCOM's for $89.99. Here is the thread.

I have a M-SOCOM, if you get a good one they're great. Can't wait to see my Pioneer II!!

In that size I think the BM 705 rocks also, even though it's not listed. I've used one as my EDC for over a year and it's flawless.

Mike is also selling REKAT Pocket Hobbits for $89.99. Now that could be considered a Tactical Folder.

I'm a REKAT fan at the moment, so I'll vote for the Pioneer, but it really excels as a utility knife in my opinion. It is tought to go wrong with Microtech as well. Good knife hunting!

A Pat on the Back is only a few inches from a Kick in the Butt.

I like the endura from your list. You may want to check out the old style AFCK from Benchmade. They are being discontinued and many dealers are letting them go at wholesale cost or below. Great knife too.

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

I'll also toss my vote in for a REKAT Pioneer II. It comes in a pretty good assortment of blade-styles, and I read where that little folder is supposed to hold over 1000 lbs weight "at the pivot"!.

The Pioneer II is probably the strongest and most reliable. Near the top on your list in ergonomics. Cuts very well too.

My vote goes for the Spyderco Delica or Native. Neither is so big to draw too much attention, nor too small for heavier cutting.

Yet to try them as I am waiting for delivery, but
1.Starmate
2.Native
3.Delica

All Spyderco blades!

All under $100 heck the last 2 under $50!

Cpirtle,

I got the clip point

Not a fan of the Tanto.

I think I may have gotten the only one because right after I called (10:15 EST) it was removed. I started calling right at 10:00 and kept hitting redial until I got in.

My best friend just dove into knives, and probably the least expensive, and most impressive, one he bought was a REKAT Pioneer.
An ugly knife, with a cheesy looking clip, that came with a great edge, a lockup that impressed me as being even more solid feeling than my Axis locks, and oh so comfortable handles. Only Rolling Lock knife I've actually seen/handled, and I'm very impressed with its strength-though blade opening and lock could stand to be quite a bit smoother. A real workhorse of a knife, though, and the only "heavy-duty" one on your list.

Not ignoring poster's original list... jes lahk dis stuff mo bettuh:

Spyderco:
* Starmate
* Wegner

Benchmade:
* 710 Axis (705 for 3")
* 800 AFCK (812 for 3")
* 750 Pinnacle

Picking up any of these used is a good idea. If you know what the cheapest new prices are on the web, and are patient, you can catch one of the above for a good price if you wait around 2-6 weeks generally.

The Microtech stuff is even better built if you can find a design you like, but pricier also and so "under $100" is only had used. I like the regular grind full sized SOCOM Elite (not tanto) and the LCC a lot. The mini Socom I have isn't as smooth (a bit older) as the Elite.

Or you could buy from me and not have to wait for a good price.

Spydie Endura's in the older model, fully serrated, buy two, just in case ya leave one stuck in something ya don't want to take home with ya.....

I think ya could get 2 for less than a C-note if ya look, and they've worked flawlessly for me for the last, what, 8 years?
