I'm looking to get a tanto bladed folder and I've got about $40 to spend.

I must say I have no practical reason for wanting a tanto other then thinking it looks cool (which is a valid reason i guess).

I really like the mini-grip but $65-70 is outta my price range

I agree with the CRKT M16 AUS-8 series.

A few of my old Army pals are carrying them in Iraq right now.
They work.

Are you talking about the squared off American tanto point? If so, what is your need for such a blade? They are terrible to sharpen and very limited in what they will do.

Ended up getting a lightly used Kershaw Tactical Blur for a pretty good price ($26)...the fact that it has AO is a nice bonus.

FullerH: My reasoning for wanting a tanto is purely aesthetics...i just think they look really cool. I likely won't carry it as an EDC. That's why I didn't want to spend too much and the fact that I spent a lot less then i planned is even better.

Well, my EDC is a tanto since 3 years now and a found this bladeshape extremely useful for everything I do, and I think it's sharpening is actually very easy. Just like two wharncliff blades. FullerH, I don't mean any disrespect, but could you tell me what are those everyday tasks which can't be done with a tanto blade? Skinning doesn't count, I don't hunt. :D

What kind of EDC stuff do you use it for. I've heard tanto's aren't good for EDC but after searching around i've read a couple people say they work just fine.

I have two new knives (Endura and Leek) and that i just bought and the thought of using them for "rough" types of EDC stuff brings a tear to my eye.

I'd be a lot more willing to use my Blur for this type of stuff since i got it used.
