I am traveling soon and will take my 4inch Victorinox paring knife with me to cut food.Any sugestions for something traditional to take along with paring knife.

To prevent losing anything too expensive, or more importantly, sentimentally valuable, I carry a buck 303 when I travel. It's been all over the world. The most well traveled knife I have. Australia, Micronesia, Guam, Hawaii, grand cayman, Cozumel more times than I can count, Disney even. One day, it'll get taken away and I'll replace it with another. I'll lose some sentiments with it since it's been all over but another just like it will bring same memories.

Last time I traveled by air within the US I took a Victorinox Alox Electrician in my checked luggage. The extra tools came in handy.

A silver alox Electrician is my constant travel companion. Useful, pocket friendly, and not too expensive to worry about losing.

Any Swiss Army with the blade combination you personally like. There is one in my shaving kit that has been around the world several times.

Vic recruit is a great option, not to many functions and not to little. Not too big or too small, and nice and lightweight. Not to mention that you're specifically buying it for this trip and it only costs about 15$. The tweezers and toothpick are something that you may need and won't get with an alox model or a standard pocket knife.

Restaurants don't always have toothpicks, and you never know if you may grab some wooden hand rail or something and getting a splinter.

When flying, I ship a Victorinox recruit ahead to where I'm staying, so it's there waiting for me when I check in. Then I gift it off when I leave, to the grounds keeper, the guy at the car rental counter, whomever. The gift of a lightly used SAK is always appreciated.

If I'm driving, my usual edc pocket knife is with me.

I happen to know that TSA guys LOVE Buck 303's! I recommend a small/medium stockman of some flavor, 3 good blades...

Another answer of an swiss army knife for me. I will pick them up at a pawn shop cheap and keep them around for lending, traveling or when I have forgotten my other knife. As long as it sits comfortably in the pocket it does not matter much which model

I am travelling down south, the climate is near tropical.I find paring knife most handy for food cutting and easiest to clean.Have victorinox recruit somewhere in my luggage.Used to carry Locking Large victorinox before I got paring knife, will probably go with recruit or opinel in pocket.

I am going to order another alox sak LOL.Too bad Victorinox Solo alox is out of production, also Wenger version was awesome, too bad I did not buy it when had chance.

I carry a Vic Compact. Great selection of tools, and there's even a blade! Seriously, fits well in a pocket and has every tool I need.

+1 on the Vic Compact! Whenever I travel, it's my go-to knife. I took it this past summer to China and it came in handy a couple of times. Great tool selection and easy to carry in the pocket. Also not expensive, so no worries if it gets lost, etc.

Had victorinox classic with a pen,one of handiest knives that I used many times and someone stole it.My other classic alox is arriving today, pen is very useful on one of these knives

I'm blessed/cursed with a wonderful wife who LOVES to travel. Together we've visited Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Canada, and probably a few I'm forgetting. No matter what, I ALWAYS bring along a SAK. I might also bring my peanut or an Opinel or whatever, but a SAK is far too handy to travel without.
