Hey guys, I'm looking for a mid to cheap priced (~$60 and under) knife to use for working outside. I do a lot of landscaping and other projects for people. I'm not looking for a box cutter/actual utility knife. Looking for something along the lines of a Mora, Becker Bk2, something I can really beat on and not feel bad.

Kabar Becker BK-2 or BK-4. It depends on how much finese cutting you do which would guide me between the two. Both exceed $60 a bit. The BK-4 is probably too large. I have one and I wouldn't choose it for this purpose unless you just like bigger blades.

The SOG Seal Pup Elite would also work with it being on the upper end of your pricing. The SOG Field Pup is another one to consider. It is more along the lines of a Mora. This is the knife that I frequently provide my nephews as their first fixed blade that they can beat around, not be scarey to other people, and still very useful.

Look at the Condor line of knives. They are pretty good quality and very reasonable. I feel pretty certain that one would fit your needs quite well and almost for sure under $50 depending on the model. I have the Bush Lore knife and it works for this purpose at about $30.

I use a Victorinox SAK for this purpose a lot. Works well and if you have a larger fixed blade for larger tasks, you have a good pair. The One Handed Trekker (plain edge) is one of my favorites.

Kershaw NEEDS WORK is a very practical folder for around $30, It is a Wharncliff design if you want to poke or trim things, or slice things, but not a chopper or for digging.

If you are looking for a cheap knife, but good quality, then take a look at the Kellam brand. Their S-Line knives can be found for under $20 and come with a wicked edge. I will admit that the sheaths SUCK, but the blades are sharp and since they are so cheap you don't mind using the hell out of the knife without worrying about ruining it. Also, these knives have a rattail tang unlike the partial tang of the Mora knives. I have both brands but feel a little more comfortable with the rattail tang if I am really chopping/digging hard with the knife. Take a look>>> http://www.kellamknives.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_33_83_85

For a working knife I'd go with a Mora. Especially if you'll be running around peoples yards with it.

The Kershaw Needs Work is a fine utility knife. You can find them for pretty reasonable prices if you look around
