What do you guys think? Whats the best configuration of a swiss army knife in your opinion? I personally like the climber and the ranger, but I also should say that I enjoy having a knife with things on it that ill probably never use in a real life situation:)

One of my favorite SAKs is the Classic SD, all it has is a small blade, file, and scissors. It is small enough to put on a key chain, sheeple friendly, and it makes great gifts. The SAK that I find myself using the most is the tinker though, so many great tools in such a little package.

The farmer for me...simple, tough and a great compliment of tools. It is a constant companion no matter what else I am carrying.

The pioneer/soldier is a great scout pattern and I think that is their best. The alox frame is great.

I carry the Farmer everyday, plus another knife but it is by far my favorite SAK, I mean how can you get better then the soldier with a saw?

Classic, followed by the Cadet. I always have a classic in one of my pockets, no matter what other knife I am carrying.

Rambler. The MAGNET is indispensable.

Add blade, scissors, file, bottle opener, phillips and flat driver and of course the tweezers and toothpick.

Yay, Rambler!

Honestly, I like the swiss champ...maybe a bit excessive, but well-rounded. I also LOVE the swiss card lite. Has almost everything i wish i could fit in my pockets...in a tool that can fit in your wallet!

For me, the Huntsman; it does everything I need. The other would be the Classic, on my keyring. SAK tweezers are still some of the best I've ever seen.

thx - cpr

For me, the Huntsman; I have two, both of them I found. That model does everything I need. The other would be the Classic, on my keyring. SAK tweezers are still some of the best I've ever seen.

The Huntsmans: [not very good pics]

Depends on the method of carry, my favourites are:
Pocket carry: Alox Cadet
Belt carry: Huntsman

Two layers is the biggest I'd go for pocket carry. The Compact fits a ton of utility into a small package. So does the Alox Cadet [probably my favorite EDC SAK]. Then there's the discontinued Safari Trooper that I was lucky enough to score 2 of from Tim @ FelineVet. :)

Lightweight - Farmer / Pioneer
Good all around edc - Climber / Huntsman
Sock-it-to me - Swisschamp XLT (belt carry - of course):D
Cool travel companion (if you're going on plane) - Mini Champ (in suitcase - not in pocket)

I've said it before... I never met a SAK I didn't like.

I mostly carry a Soldier, Climber or Spartan for EDC. For outdoor it depends, if I carry a larger folder or fixed blade, then I would choose between between Huntsman and Farmer, otherwise I would choose a 111mm model.
