I just got a Badger in with black micarta with black blade and I'd like to darken up the micarta, so it's closer in color to the blade. Any suggestions on what works well. TIA.

Mineral oil, according to some of the folks who have been around here longer than I have (which is nearly all of them). Pete

i heard vegetable oil works too... i hope so because i have my LE soaking in some right now......

Temporary until you wash the oil off...
There was a thread about someone useing Ritz Garment dye on canvas Micarta.....

Tru-oil. 3-4 coats. Not slippery at all. Somewhat shiny. VERY darkened. Will come off with gunscrubber if you don't like it. (But you will. Muchly.)

Mineral oil looks great, but dries after a few days. I like that permanent look to my darkening.

I think this was Skunk's trick.

I guess I do it the hard way, I use them. The oils from my hand do the job. :D

Thats what happened after an hour playing with my first Busse a Tigerwarden ! Just did my first sharpening also how easy is that  Amazing how easy INFI is to sharpen compared to how well it holds an edge. This steel is Incredible !!!

Cheers Matt ! :D

My guy cleans it real well with somekind of alchohol cleaner nothing special then brushes it with a wire brush (lightly) and then puts the whole handle in a coffee can with black leather dye. leaves it in for awhile..maybe an hour or so. Takes the handle out and hangs it upside down from a string. when its just about dry he gentlely wipes the excess dye off any metal , rivets including. waits a day and does the same thing over and again on the third day. Easy, it seems a little tacky at first but cures in no time. seems to stay on well. Also if it ever dulls, just buy a black shoe polish liquid and hit it again. That kind with the foam top in the squezee bottle.
Its all good by me and dwayne and hes the leatherman.
Best to you Brian, let me know how you made out.
Jules
