Best way to loosen up new Spyderco Tenacious

All,

I just bought my first Spyderco, a Tenacious, and am impressed for the quality versus price. Its a nice knife for price, no doubt about it.

However, I've found the deployment to be pretty "gritty" (for lack of a better word) feeling and super slow. It takes a bit of effort and wrist flip to get it to deploy with the spyderhole. I traded a member the other week for a Benchmade and its got the smoothest deployment of any non-assisted blade I've seen.

Maybe I've been spoiled but is there a way to loosen up the deployment of the blade? Oiling, any kind of recommended lube? Does the fact that the blade does not appear to be centered have something to do with this opening problem?

THANKS!

Clean it, Oil it & Use it use it use it. A fine knife. It will loosen up. The off center blade is common with this knife and a lot of liner locks. Unless it is very bad I don't think it will be a problem.

A drop of Break Free CLP on the pivot may help. As long as the off-center blade is not hitting the liner, it really doesn't make a difference.

Hot soapy water and work the action when submerged. Rinse well under hot water. Dry with towel and work the action again. Use a hair dryer to thoroughly dry the knife and then apply a drop (less is best) of the lubricant of your choice.

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it. I got her all lubed up last night and she's making her inaugural pocket voyage today. I'll keep you all posted. All in all, I think for the price you can't beat the blade size, weight, and sharpness.

Keep on flicking it. My girlfriend seems to have a knack of making hers loosen up so much I have to re-tighten the screw everyday.
