best way to maintain diamond plates

I got a new set diamond plates for my KME. I think I wore the first set out faster than I should have using to much pressure. I have sharpened a lot of knives with them, and did my share of reprofiling. Still think they could have lasted longer though. So other than using less pressure, do you have any suggestions? I clean them with a toothbrush and dish soap every once in a while. Couple drops of water on the stone to keep it wet when sharpening.

I wipe mine down with BreakFree CLP. Leave a few hours (or overnight) for best results, but even a few minutes is good. It lifts up the swarf which you can wipe off with a soft cloth. My DMTs have lasted for +three decades and are still good. Light pressure works best with diamonds.

I've got CLP, i'll give that a try. Diamonds work really well, if I can figure out how to make them last that would be great.
