Best way to put an edge on carbon fiber.

I have a credit card sized & shaped piece of CF it's approx. 1/16" thick, I'd like to put an edge on it.

Any suggestion on the degree of the bevel, do I have to seal it to keep it from fragmenting/separating, would a 90 degree that comes to a point at the corner make it better at cutting fleshy material, or will it weaken the CF, also chisel grind or double bevel.

Hand file, belt grind, dremel, or bench grinder, I have access to a dremel, bench grinder and hand tools, will that be enough?

Sorry if the questions seem excessive or stupid, but I have only one piece of CF and I want to try to get it right the first time.

First things first. No matter how you do it, wear a good respirator.

If you haven't sanded CF before you will be shocked at how easy it is to sand. I'd recommend just using a piece of hardwood about 1" x 1" x 6", cut up some wet/dry sandpaper, wrap/fold it around the wood and start sanding.
Start with 220 grit and work up to 500 grit. You can do it wet this way.
Shouldn't take but a couple minutes.
No sealant is needed. Watch for splinters.

Good point. Sanding on carbon fiber without a filter mask on would be like smoking 50 packs of cigarettes at a time!

Thanks guys, any thoughts on the edge, a single bevel chisel grind seems to be the easiest, but if it's done too thin it'll make a fragile edge, can a grind on both sides make an edge that will cut soft material in an emergency.

Ain't ya never had a bad Jones for a Twinkie, an had to cut it in an emergency

Yeah.. but I cut them with my glass laminated cane that I built to cut seat belts in case I'm trapped in the car! :footinmou
