Best way to remove banner from blade?

Anyone have any recommendations on the best way to remove a banner from a blade without ruining the blade finish? I don’t have any machinery outside of a handheld dremel.

The banner is probably etched. If so, the only way to completely remove it is to sand or grind it off, to the depth of the etch. As mentioned, it can be 'dimmed' over time using some metal polish, like Flitz, Simichrome, etc. The metal polish won't change the factory finish much, save for making it brighter over time. But usually, a faint shadow of the etch might still remain.

If you want the banner completely GONE, Victorinox's blades will sand easily with some wet/dry (SiC) sandpaper used over a HARD backing, like stone or glass. But the finish of the blade will be altered to match whichever grit of sandpaper is used. 220/320-grit leaves an attractive brushed satin finish, much like the factory finish on a lot of other knives. Lay the blade flat against the sandpaper over the hard, flat backing (stone/glass), and make the sanding passes in one linear direction only, to keep the scratch pattern looking uniform. I used this method to clean up a Victorinox blade I'd scribed with my name or initials many, many years ago (UGLY!! What was I THINKING??). I used a granite reference plate for the hard backing under the sandpaper. Now the blade just has a clean, brushed stainless look to it. Much better. :)

Looking at images online of some of the Swiss Bianco SAKs, it looks like the logo is pretty lightly etched & shallow. I've seen one pic which seems to show most of it removed (with a 'shadow' left behind). So, maybe just using some metal polish over time will fade most of it away. If doing anything, I'd probably start there.

I use 1500 grit paper to remove the etching. It will be completely gone - no remnants whatsoever. THen 2000, then 3000, and then 6000 ... finish will be like a mirror. Your local auto parts store will have it, if not, amazon.com

hydrochloric acid : no problem, no etching, no blade, no finger :eek::D
sorry ;)
