I dont really like the Tuff-Ex coating on my Cold Steel AK47, it has developed quite a few scratches over time and looks "scrappy"
Is there an easy safe way to remove the coating and has anyone done it - is it worth the effort?
From what I've read steel wool, sand paper seem most common. I use citri strip to take coatings of my fixed blades as well as sand paper.. citri strip is faster but if there are grind lines I end up sanding anyway. I don't think the ak47 blade has deep grind lines( any one know fore sure?) though so perhaps citri strip would be the fastest way. But I don't think sand paper would be take to long.
As far as if its worth It depends on you. I personally like a stripped blade that's why I remove the coating from some of my knives.
I've never used jasco, but I just looked it up and it appears to do the same thing as citri strip probably no benefit just different brand. Although citri strip is safe indoors perhaps the jasco is as well then there'd be no difference.
