I recently purchased this Cattaraugus 225Q, which is otherwise mint with the exception of a previous owner who seems to have cemented a white plexi cap (like the one seen on the bottom of chair legs) to the pommel. It’s on there really good. What’s the best way to remove the cap and dried cement without damaging the waffling on the bottom of the pommel? Chisel and Goo Gone?

I don't know the answer t your question, but I have one for you: Where can I get a mint Cattaraugus 225Q? My father had one in WWII, so I have a sentimental interest.

I found this one on eBay. Prices range quite a bit, there are several nice ones that pop up for reasonable prices. Case also made one called the 337Q.

Not knowing the adhesive used can complicate things.

First I’d try controlled low heat.
Suspend the pommel in water that has just finished boiling for 2- 5 minutes being careful not to get the handle wet.
