Best way to remove etching?

I want to remove the date etched onto my satin AMS. How should I go about doing this? Any input is appreciated.

The date is already on the blade.

Yes I realize sandpaper should do it, but if anyone other than my ex, has input for me, such as the grit and other technical info, I'd appreciate it.
