I am looking for the best way to remove hardened gunk from old oil (food grade oil I am told) from a folder.

Materials in the vicinity: titanium, steel, teflon.

Thanks.

I would try WD40 first. If that doesn't work, try a solvent like mineral spirits or alcohol.

Some also use hot, soapy water for cleaning folders, just dry it off good afterwards.

Boil it in a pot of water for 10 minutes and all that old oil will fall off. That won't hurt any of the material you listed and is much safer than any solvent or abrasive.
