Hi,
I have recently purchased a used knife with a Black blade.
Unfortunately, (But I was aware of prior to sale) the blade was carelessly marked with a name and numbers,
(On the presentation side, as well -:confused :))
Anyhow, it's going to be a user, but I would like to rid the knife of the markings, and make it "mine"
Not sure if the steel matters, for the removal, but it's 154CM.
The knife is an older Benchmade, (discontinued)...I can post a picture, if anyone is curious to see it,
but mainly I am hoping for any suggestions, that would take out the letters, but maintain the Black blade.
Thank you, B.T.B.

-What was I thinking, of-course you wanna see it...

Well.... I can't think of anything off the top of my head. If it's going to be a user, why don't you just use it for a while? Use it rough and im sure scratches on the blade will somewhat cover the numbers... Although now looking back at it those are pretty bad....

You won't get rid of the scratched in numbers, without loosing the coating as well.

Those scratches go all the way through the coating. You won't get rid of them and save the coating on your own.
You might call Benchmade and see if they'd re-coat.

Or, just scrub it with steel wool, sandpaper, a wire wheel, etc. until the marks are gone.

That really sucks because I have the same problem with a ZT 0350 I purchased used. Was hoping for a miracle solution. I guess using the heck out of it might work.

I agree... but it seems to me that these previous owners do not appreciate the beauty of the knife, or they would not 'deface' them, in this way. Initials/etc. done the right way, could surely add a touch of personal class to a piece, if desired.
Obviously, not knife connoisseurs...:)
