Hi Folks

I just had a John Greco MST Mk IV arrive in the post this morning and for the money it is superb.

However most of the edges (including the blade :D ) are pretty sharp.

I have never done anything like this before but I need to smooth them off a bit to be comfortable to use.

What is the best way of doing this please?

I will have to buy whatever I need so no very expensive solutions please?

Also the micatra handle is a bit smooth, is there any easy way to give it a bit more texture?

Thanks in advance.

Some 220 grit wet or dry sandpaper should take care of both. But your knife will never be the same so make sure that's what you want before you start.

Thanks Dave

Even if I make a complete bodge of it (hopefully not) it was only 50 bucks and bought as a hard user anyway.

One more thought, I'd wrap the paper around a dowel covered with leather or something with a littel give, and use that to rub the edges. On the handle, you can use your fingertip to back the paper and rub. If you can't make the lines "line up", try the rotational "wax on" movement and swirl the lines evenly. It'll look fine. You might think about taping the edge with masking tape before you start this. :D

Why do you want to tape the edges?

Does the blood not make a good lubricant for the wet & dry? :D
