Purchased a Bradley alias to use as a beater instead of my sebenza....tied a lanyard on it and now the only thing bothering me is the Bradley Cutlery logo on the front of the blade...

How can I remove this without screwing up the blade finish??

i posted in your other thread but you wouldnt want to use sand but glass bead. sand is too coarse. the logo would still be there but with a frosted look to it if you use glass bead.

if you use something coarse to start with, you'll end up with deep pits that glass beads wont smooth out. before glass beading a blade i put at least a 400 grit finish on it. i would test a piece of meatal first before going to a blade. try to use a hard piece of steel to get similar results.

How much metal am I going to have to remove? Could I do it with my Diamond stones? And finish it with a polishing stone?

I just want the black writing gone...

I think writing on blades is tacky...

it would require a lot of progressively finer grits to remove it and a lot of time but you could do it by hand. if you have access to a belt sander that would be the route to go and it would take less time.

Well I found a belt sander @ Work and decided to give it a try....it only had 320 grit paper on it and I couldn't find anything higher, so I just said the hell with it and went to work...

15 minutes later I was done.

Did both sides and smoothed everything out.

Was kinda shiny, so I threw it in a coffee can filled with broken glass to rough it up a bit.

I like how it turned out...but I might trace the shape of the sebenza onto this blade and re profile it to the sebenza profile.

I was going to bead blast the finish, but out blaster was out of commission...will have to wait a few weeks to do that.
