I am moving to Japan for 3-5 yrs and have been told in no uncertain terms that absolutely no knives, guns, or weapons of any kind (even BB guns) are allowed. I will already be storing a number of guns while I'm gone but I still have a large collection of knives including at least one of every Busse made (except the Smatchet) including at least one that is out of production. The thought of them just sitting in a footlocker for all those years without someone to love them is killing me so I'm considering selling them. They are all un-used, unsharpened, brand new in-the-sheath. The only one I ever used was stolen in Afghanistan.
Any thoughts on the best way to move this many great knives?

I think Stinky or perhaps one of the other members of OINK could just cut you a check...

If you want to make a donation to a poor brother in need send me a note  ;) I promise they will be well loved.

You can send them to the Busse/Buy Brown museum located in Tucson Az.
We will save & beat the crap out them for posterirty. Oh & we will even pay shipping.

If it were me I would seriously consider putting them in storage. You could never assemble them again when you return at anywhere near what you have in them now.

If you have enough lead time to manage it you could put them on a sale forum such as Bladeforums or Knifeforums.

Or if time is short and you are going to discount them to move all of them at one time, you could send me a list and a price, at Bolwevl@aol.com. This is not a firm offer to buy, but I would certainly consider it.

I would guess that your best return on investment, given time to wait, would be on the sale forums or E-bay.

I'll be willing to help you out too if you needed to sell some! :D

Drop me a price list and inventory! progunner@warpnet.net

I'll be sure to share the list with the other hogs.

No , really I will. :D

Raven,

Unless you need the money I would store them since you will not be able to replace them for the same cost later - if at all.

However, if you decide to sell some and have noticed how fast most of them disappear once posted in Blade Forums or Knife Forums, or eBay, you should not have a problem.

Since I only started collecting Busses, I have no idea how large your collection might be. You might consider renting the largest safe deposit at a bank for the most valuable pieces. Others you can store at a trusted relative or friend and even pay for insurance to cover them. I imagine you have to do that with your guns anyway.

Good luck,

hey raven, sorry to hear that you have to get rid of something as precious as INFI (honest, it really does make me feel bad;) :p :D )

i might be able to take one off your hands, if you get a list set up with prices you could send it to me at : matt1521@epix.net

i do think some of the guys are right though - keep whatever you can!! i'm sure it will only get more expensive as time goes on to replace any kind of collection.

whatever your descision, i hope it works out.

Yeah it would be best if you could keep it. I mean if you have a little bit of everything then there are some you may never be able to replace. At least not without spending an arm and a leg. There are some that I'm looking for but never see pop up anywhere.

I agree that you should hang on to them if you really want to, but if not, send me an e-mail.

Gene

I've got a gun safe available that is practically empty, I'll hang on to them for you. I promise I'll resharpen any that get dull over the months of sitting stored away.;)
