Alright First off, This is not a sale thread, These are not for sale at this time but if im still posting against the rules please delete this thread and i apologize.

I have recently aquired a lot of Cocobolo and some Bocote wood blocks and im curious about how to proceed. I deffinetly do not need all this and dont have room to store it so i want it gone. Heres my questions.

Heres what i got. These are sealed with a waxy type material on both end and have been sitting/drying? since 6/2000.I have 36 pieces of Cocobolo that are 2 inches wide, 1 inch thick and about 30 inches long. Then there are 9 peices of Bocote that are 2 inches wide, 1 inch thick and 18 1/2 inches long. Lastly there are 6 pieces of Bocote that are 2 inches wide, 1 inch thick and 24 1/2 inches long.

First off are these worth messing with? Should i leave them as is and try and sell them? Split them up and sell them individually as they are? Or should i take them apart and run them through a jointer/plainer and then try and sell them?

Basically what im looking for the best and easiest way to move these before I mess with them. Thanks

Best thing to do is take one or two planks of each and send them to me!

P.S. MODS- this is not a request to buy from a non sale thread, just some humor.

DITTO!!!!

Seriously cut them into 6" lengths and sell them. Or just post as is and cut to order??

Both of these are relativly cheap in knife size blocks somewhere between 5-7 bucks a block,so i would not put much time into them,
Maybe cut them to fit in a small flatrate box or medium flatrate box and offer them at a single price for the box plus shipping.
That's how I would do it.

What about finishing them or at least one side so we can see what they really look like? I have access to a cabinet shop so running them through a jointer isnt a problem. Would they do better as is or finished?

I don't think you'll get the ROI on running them through the jointer in terms of sale price. You might get a few cents more per piece, but that's doubtful. You would probably make more in total if you sold them individually, or cut them to order. I also like Stan's suggestion.

Just go to the for sale forum and study how the successful scale guys present their pieces for sale. I would suggest selling 1x2x 5.5 and sand the sides so guys can see the grain. Nobody is gonna buy ugly grips, so if they have lots of figure you might do ok. You also need to take good to great pics in order to sell well.
Goodluck
