Hi,

Title says it all. I would like to try and make a sheath or two for a couple of Moras.

I tried soaking a piece in warm water for about and hour. But it didn't quite get soften enough. Do I need to boil? Soak longer? Use heat?

I'm no expert by any means, but I would try thoroughly soaking the bark first and then steaming it. Keep a large pot of water boiling while you form so that if it cools you can just re-steam real quick. I am sure one of the masters here will chime in soon.

Hi there
Heat the bark. Try to use pieces that are vertical to the trunk rather than across the trunk.

Best regards

Hi,

OK, that makes sense to use vertical pieces and to take advantage of the natural curl. I will try using some heat and maybe a bit of steam to see which will better for me.

It's been an interesting learning process so far.

Thanks!
