Just looking for some opinions on the best way to store knives in a safe. Not that my knives are safe queens, I do take them out and use them, but with a one year old crawling around I figured it'd be the best place to keep them out of his reach. :)
Anyway, I was thinking of buying a few of those "in/out trays," just for some basic shelving so they're not piled on top of each other like they are now. The boxes are no worry (CRK, Benchmade, RAT, SOG, etc), but the free ones are becoming a problem (Busse, customs, etc). Thanks much for any ideas.

Corwise,
Think about this setup. I also have young kids in the house and like to keep my collection secure. Craftsman wrench and ratchet chests have a many drawers, great capacity, and are lockable. Mine sits on a chest of drawers in my office and I use the top section for sharpening supplies, cleaning supplies, tools, etc. Got this model shipped direct from Sears for a reasonable price.

Gonna have to get another soon!!:D

Cheers,
jon

I'm thinking along the lines of a Craftsman Tool box, as well. With the lock, and large number of drawers, it would be perfect for my collection of users. I can even throw all the boxes in one of the larger drawers, and keep it all together. Right now I have all my stuff jumbled together in a plastic 3-drawer stationary storage thingy from Wally World. Looks awful, and offers no security at all. Plus with 8 1/2 x 11 x 3" measurements, it's hard to fit everything and their sheaths.

For in-safe storage, you might want to look into zippered padded individual storage cases. These can usually be had for around $5-8 depending on size. I believe A. G. Russell sells them, and most likely are available anywhere.
