Best Way to Strip Beckers?

Lately, I've been thinking of getting a 16 or a 7. Naturally, whichever I get will stripped right off the bat. However, the last time I stripped a knife (my BK2), it took a while for the paint stripper to work its magic. It didn't seep in all the way- I waited a couple hours- and I had to finish it off with some sanding before I forced a patina.

This time around, I'd like to only strip the edge, a little like the TOPS B.O.B., but I'm worried about the paint stripper not working as precisely as I'd need it to to really get a nice clean line. So did I just not wait long enough last time, or is there a particular brand out there that works best?

Thinner or stripper? I can strip a BK-2 within about 45 seconds haha (Havent timed it recently but its very quick). I use 3M paint stripper...The ones I've heard you guys use in the states is Jasco and Klean Strip. You should probably tape up the portions you dont want stripped firmly so the stripper cant get under the tape but I've always fully stripped my BKs so you might wanna double check that one.

I used paint stripper, just a typo :o

I used CitiStrip, but it was the foam instead of the liquid, so I wonder if that's why it didn't work too well? I've never had trouble stripping knives before, and it's not like the Becker coating is super tough...

Get em a pole and some club music and they'll practically strip themselves...

Failing that, I've had good luck with Jasco Gel and Strip Fast spray.

I use hundred dollar bills and the promise of a better life.

Honestly, I don't know what I use. It was on clearance at Small Fart. But it works.
Haven't tried it on the new coatings though. I hear they're tougher.

Take it to the club and put it on the stage...

The new coatings come off very well with the stripper in a spray can. You'll still have to do some sanding but that is more to clean up the grind marks. It's one of the biggest complaints I hear when people strip it is about the grind marks, course that is one of the reasons they get coated! Tape up the portion you don't stripped, it does work. I did it to my 3.

I use the Klean Strip.. works GREAT. I just used it on my ESEE Izula this past weekend. I use the spray can type.

Lay it out on a cookie sheet or in a glass casserole dish... stand it up on the spine and spray both side with a good coat... then let it lay down and soak in. Let it sit for about 15 min and go check it... My Izula coating literally looked like an old sock wrapped around the metal... it came right of in a single piece. No scraping at all.

Great stuff! Thanks, I'll have to try this out.
