I have some g10 handle scales that are lacking in texture, so I want to give them some help. I want to try and imitate Spyderco's G10, like the PM2, Native 5 G10 etc. A really grippy texture, any ideas?
Spyderco G10 is formed in textured molds. I would venture to guess that a reasonable option would involve stock removal. You would essentially create a pattern of your choosing and file/sand a design in negative space to accomplish some form of texturing.
Using a dremel, you can add scallops to the handle. Ive seen guys melt stippling into plastics on gun grips, that could work too. I really dont see a way to achieve a spyderco style texture. As stated above, those textures are done when the g10 is molded.
These handles are g10. I did the scallops with a dremel.
If it's done in the molding process it might not be possible. I've done the scalloping on scales before, but I don't think I'd like it on these (Mini Griptilian) scales. How about lightly going over them with really rough sand paper?
