Hi guys, I am very new to forging and hot metal working having just made a forge not long ago and having scoured the internet struggling to find a website that sells smaller carbon steel stock to individuals for a decent price, does anyone have any go to website recommendations?
 
yes, I have previously used those guys to source some 1080 flat stock for a stock removal hunting knife a while back but it was looking for some licker round or square bar stock for forging. I am right in saying they don't supply anything bigger than 5mm flat stock?
 
im not 100% sure you would want to go and buy a bunch of really really good flat stock when you can source cheap leaf springs and coils springs from a junkyard. If you are just starting out, dont waste your money on the good stuff till you are 100% you wont make a mistake with heating/striking. So id honestly just source cheap steel from springs. Then you can practice practice practice to get your self ready.
