I have Tom making me scales for my BK14 and I have searched and searched but I am curious to know what you think.
What type of wood makes the best looking and functional scale for a bk14? Please feel to attach pics or links.

just pic whatever tickles your fancy. since its for a 14 the worst its going to see is a bit of battoning, so anything will work.

I made mine from Bocote. I like it real well. Durable, pretty easy to shape, and actually doesnt even require a finish due to it's natural oils.

I really like how bloodwood looks. Is it durable?
ISKski, that looks good too!
What type of fasteners did you use?

Amboyna burl is on my list next but I've done cedar which is pictured below. I've also used zebrawood, oak and am currently making a set out of osage orange which will be done tomorrow. Bloodwood would work good. Read up on the different finishing techniques over in the maintenance and tinkering section. For these small knives I just use epoxy but you can use corby fasteners etc.

ISKski nice scales.
The best wood is what ever you like. Me I like Osage Orange.

Teak, gonna try a few coats of linseed and top it off with teak on these osage scales.
