Hello,

I'm new to this site. I'd appreciate your opinions on the best folder out there... is the Sebenza better than the Strider or the Microtech DA? How does the MOD stack up to Spyderco and Benchmade? I"ll be buying a couple in the coming months... one for me and another as a gift. Thanks for your time and Merry Christmas to all.

Sebenza is nicer, Strider is tougher. MOD is good, Benchmade is good, Spyderco is good. Get whatever floats you boat.

Mods, you guys gotta make a sticky with all the "Are Sebenzas really that good?" and What is tougher?" and " Best Lock?" and "Best Steel?" :D

If anyone definitively answers this question we'll have nothing left to talk about. ;)

You forgot: Best covert deanimator!

There's no way to ever define the "best" knife out there.

But for myself, I have my favorites of various different types of knives:

Inexpensive, traditional, mass-produced, stainless steel, pocket-knives: Buck stockmans.

Inexpensive, traditional, mass-produced, carbon steel, pocket-knives: Schrade Old Timer stockmans.

Swiss Army Knife style, plastic scales, pocket-knife: Victorinox Super Tinker.

Swiss Army Knife style, aluminum alox, pocket-knife: Victorinox Electrician.

Large plastic/nylon handled Swiss Army style, lock-blade knife: Victorinox Rucksack.

Unlined plastic handled, one-hand, single-blade folder: Spyderco Endura or Spyderco Delica.

Metal-lined plastic handled, one-hand, single-blade folder: Benchmade 551 Griptilian or 556 Mini-Griptilian.

All steel handle, serrated, sheepsfoot, one-hand, single-blade folder: Spyderco mariner (now discontinued).

All metal, frame-lock, assisted-opening folder: Kershaw/Ken Onion Rainbow Leek.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.
It really depends on what your want in a knife.

Good luck,
Allen.
