Hi,

Well, no sooner than the day I received my beautiful Fox Bastinelli Shadow, I saw this knife on Youtube. All the reviews were very positive. I think it's absolutely beautiful. It is on Bestech's high end spectrum. Is there anybody that owns this knife that can comment to its quality? I would have no problem spending $300 or so for a Chinese made Reate or We, but Bestech?

Thanks in advance

I've never owned a Bestech but I hear they're about on par with WE fit and finish wise and maybe just a hair under Reate. However, I've been seeing your posts, and if you're willing to spend 300 bucks maybe you should just get yourself a Chris Reeve. Eventually the mystique and urge to get one will come and then you'll realise that you could have got a small Sebenza for like 50 bucks more. Just something to think about.

I've owned one ~$150 Bestech knife, the Engine, which lacked refinement compared to other knives in that price bracket; and several of their budget knives, which had flaws and were returned. Those were nowhere near CIVIVI quality.

IMO Bestech-designed knives (as opposed to models they produce as the OEM for another designer) are a mixed bag aesthetically, and that plus my experience with the brand -- especially relative to WE and Reate -- combine to make me feel like they're not on the level they need to be to charge WE/Reate money, at least not just yet.

I was gifted a Bestech Explorer Tanto (the really fat and wide tanto, it's a fun funny knife), and the action is really good, I will say that. I would most certainly NOT spend that amount of cash on such a knife, though! You have enough to go to a really good manufacturer that is more "tried and true".

I second these thoughts exactly.
