Most probably have never checked their contact wheels, but I have!

Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to give Don and Greg Reeder a shoutout. I brought to their attention that their 4" contact wheel had some bad run out which was causing rippling on their SGA (even though that was my only complaint, the rest of it is incredibly well built).

Don took it to heart and started looking into it and realized that it was a big issue. So he offered to true up both my 4" and a 10" wheel I just purchased from them. It's absolutely incredible... I've tried wheels from Contact Rubber and Sunray and non were this good (even after returning a few times).

Reeder products is a great family owned business with incredible customer service and top quality products.

I don't have a video to show it but I've measured my 10"wheel runout

i feel bad for the other people that got the bad wheels :( if the products were top quality they would not have had the run out to begin with ?

They had not realized it was an issue... rippling on the blade blank from an SGA has traditionally been associated with having too hard of a wheel.

Anyone who has an older/bad wheel they purchased from Reeder can contact Don or Greg - they will turn it down on the lathe to fix it at no charge.

While checking run out on the face is great, check the side of the wheel as well as thats whats gonna be the cause of vibration is side to side wobble.

Ive yet to find a wheel that matches the 10" that George at Northridge makes as well as the guys over at Ameribrade. Used to be Bader was the best and they had wheels made by Contact rubber corp, but those arent made as well as they used to be. Sun ray does not measure run out unfortunately, and KMGs are real bad. Have to check out Reeder now.

I'll have to check that... But in the past my main issue is the face. The side to side wobble isn't as important imho, because even if the wheel wobbles somewhat the belt is still riding true and not wobbling (same thing if I run a 2" belt centered on a 3" wheel, the side to side wobble won't matter, the belt will track due to the face of the wheel). Of course, the belt could be not cut properly or whatever and wobble on its own 🤷🏻‍♂️
