Betadine Purification?

Hi all,
I've been reading on purification yet again (yes, a bit of a nerd).
Although I've used iodine crystals for water purification, I keep reading about Betadine (10%) being used to treat water.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of this?
I normally use UV these days, but like the idea of carrying a dual purpose backup.

use it and have no problem's other than taste which Vitamin C takes care of for many years.

Have used Iodine based products before?

Just asking because some people have an allergic reaction to Iodine.

Hi Mick,
yeah I've used polar pure, Iodine crystals and had no problem
