Which has a better 3" - 3 1/2" folder for under $100. I know a good deal now about the Spyderco's but not much about the CRT's. :)

Input is appreciated!

Do you mean CRKT, as in Columbia River Knife and Tool? If so, Spyderco's offerings are generally higher-end than CRKT. This is not to say that you can't find good knives from CRKT, though.

Personally, in that price range I would look at a Spyderco Delica, a Caly 3, or a Salt 1.

Im not a huge fan of CRKT but spyders on the otherhand as for the 100 mark i could suggest a manix, its well worth the money but you may not be able to find one under 100 maybe for 100 if your lucky. But to keep it under 100 i would say delica, native or endura. Also the salt line is rather good as the blades are H1 and rustproof and reasonably priced.

As far is CRKT goes ive heard some decent things about the M16 versions, but ive also heard there have been problems with the lock(Autolocks sp?)
Some of the blade materials are kinda weak. If your gona go CRKT go with the Aus8 it will cost you a bit more but it will hold an edge longer.
hope that helps

If you want a beater CRKT is ok. They use a lot of soft steel, which makes good beaters, but if you are looking for a knife that will hold an edge under normal use Spyderco is the way to go.
Spyderco generally has better QC from the what I’ve read.

I used to have a crkt m16-14z. It was ok for my purposes but the edge retention was really bad and i had to sharpen it every few days. Ive heard people say that the lawks fails after a while but it didnt happen to me. It was a pretty good knife for the money but i just got the spyderco endura 4 and its so much better than the m16.

One word 'Spyderco.'
In my book there's little comparison.
Better steel, better quality, better company.
(ya, ok I'm a little biased)

Actually since you are under $100 , whoy not get one of each ? :D

You can score a G10 Cara Cara for under $30 and an M16 ( in it's various forms) from $25-30 all the way up to $80 if you want titanium handles.

Cold Steel Voyagers are worth a look. There's also Case (Sodbuster) for traditional folder in 1095;Opinel, Buck, just to name a few.

Have you given any thought about the Benchmade red box vex series? I haven't handled on yet myself but I wouldn't hesitate buying one as a throw away if you will, meaning if I had to go somewhere and couldn't carry or wouldnt want to risk losing one of my good blades.

Under $100 is a big range.
If you want to stay under $50, you can get Native, Native3, any Delica with VG10 blade, Centofante3. All of these and very good blades for under $50
It you are willing to spend about $80 I would buy Caly3, or R2.
Probably I would get R2, just because it is limited run and most of dealers already sold out and Caly3 you can get later. Both of these are amazing knives with full flat grind VG10 blades. Caly3 has 3" blade and G10 handle, R2 is 3.5" blade and almite coated handle. I carry both of these knives for a while and very happy with them. Spyderco did an exellent job.
Good luck on your search.

Hey, someone who thinks like me! :D

That's what I would do. I would snag an Endura and a My Tighe. With the My Tighe, you don't have to worry about the LAWKS problems some people are talking about. I've never seen one, but I'm sure it can happen.
