I just bought a new spyderco techno and I love nearly everything about it except for the super slick titanium handles. Does anyone know of anything I can do to the titanium to get better grip?

Grip tape?

Perhaps you could send it to a waterjet guy and get him to texture it?

or maybe DIY with a checkering file?

Have it sand blasted with a course media. That would change the appearance (color/texture) a lot though.

I have done a shot peen (sand blast with tiny steel balls), followed by a blast with aluminum oxide. This was for a dimpled aggressive grip. The color changed to a darker gray, as stated above.

Electric engraving pencil.
You can do very good stippling with these, with practice.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm not really a hands on guy, but I'm willing to try. Which one do you guys think will be the easiest for me to do?

Google something called Talon Grips, they're for firearms, but I put them on my metal handled knives. they're only $4 and I buy the generic rubberized sheet.

Can't remember where I saw the post but one guy removed his Techno clip and took a small dia. piece of heat shrink tubing and threaded it on to his clip at the tip contacting the scale, and used a heat gun/hair dryer to shrink it and re-installed the clip.

I remember he used a blue piece to match the G10 back-spacer...looked good and the rubbery texture of the HS tubing created a better purchase on the pocket fabric. Seemed like a good idea and I've been mulling it over for mine since I saw his post.

Also, just removing the wire clip and bending it slightly to create more pressure helps somewhat as well.
