I see a lot of larger, higher resolution pictures than I am able to get on the forum. Can someone tell me how to do that. I've just been uploading from Picture Manager in eBay.

The pictures are what you want them to be. :)

I assume you are taking pictures with a digital camera and downloading them to your computer. The camera can take different resolutions, start with a large one. You manipulate the picture with a program (I mainly use Irfanview for simple stuff) to the size you want (both visual and file size) and upload it somewhere and link to it.

There are file size and resolution limits on the forum I believe, but I have not had a problem with them.

More info on your process will help.

Eric.

Well, I think you got it. I was photographing at low resolution because I though that was all that would be accepted. I made no change to size, just downloaded to my computer and then took that image into Picture Manager in eBay. When I get the url from Picture Manager it allows 3 options: 1) Standard (400); 2) Medium (200); or, 3) thumbnail (96). So I select Standard and what you see is what I get.

I'll work on this some more and If I get a better image I'll edit it in. Thanks.:) Needed some new ideas.

I just commented on a pic that Bill took that's on the other HI Forum.
Several years ago on the Ethnographic Sword Forum they were discussing pictures and it was the consensus there that pix taken of edged weapons on a blue cloth background were always the best.
It seems to me that even a poor pic taken on a blue cloth or the family of blue color cloth background always looks the best.
The softness of the blue cloth helps to present the steel in its best light IMO.  :D

If you're useing JPG you may want to switch to GIF or PNG,they seem to make pics show better.

Go here to host all types of pics.http://xs.to/

png is a lossless compression, but it makes for huge file sizes. You can adjust the level of compression used on jpg's so as to compromise between quality and filesize. I find you can get things manageably small without noticeably degrading their quality.
