Last night I realized that knife pictures look much better when I take them from an angle and close up as opposed to a normal straight up and down shot. The knives also look much bigger! Yea, this might be old news, but it's a breakthrough for me :D

I beg to differ. ;)

Those are dramatic shots, yes, but not as 'informative' as a sideview with proper perspective.

If you want to maximize a blade's length, then, yes, shooting from a forward biased angle does the trick. It works the other way, too. To enhance the handle shoot away...

It's all subjective. If you like the look, and your fellow viewers do, then it's good. :)

It appears you changed the internal settings for the last shots from the first. No one likes a green blade, anyway. :D

Yea, I know, I'm going for exaggerated in these ones. I guess I can still get a dramatic shot if I put the side view shot in front of a good nature scene (a natural disaster would be preferred, albeit a bit dangerous).

That shot wasn't the best because I was shooting in my house at night and I didn't have a good light source (I was a bit too lazy to bring a lamp over to it).

Either way, thanks for responding. I got a bunch of views but no responses, so I'm glad I finally got some kind of feedback.

Does anyone else have any good dramatic shots they would like to post on this thread? How about a good side view shot that looks awesome but still does a good job with proportion? How about one that is wildly out of proportion? I don't care, just post something.

Don't leave me all alone! I have abandonment issues!:o

Although more dramatic and artistic I find it difficult to tell much about a knife from shots like those. Straight on shots are much more informative. My perspective is more as a buyer/seller though.

From an artistic standpoint the angles are interesting to look at.

Hey CP, thanks for taking it on the chin. ;)

I shot this one years ago, like you, looking for a more dramatic shot. And..... ya' know, for this knife, it works!

And I shot it at f-32 or something, so I could get it sharp from tip to butt. That's not easy.

Keep it up. :D
