Just a question: when is SOG going to implement the higher quality steels into their knives ?
To be precise; the SOG 1 Bowie, it's SK-5 now, shouldn't this be CPM3V ?
And the Trident 2, now made in AUS 8, maybe use ZDP189, or at least S30V ?
Why keep sending out those wonderfull blades with middle- or even lower class steels ?
Ofcourse i understand the increased pricelevels, but i think that for these specific top models people would be willing to pay a premium.
The name and the design are already there, so what about it ?:confuse
Why follow the same path as Cold Steel and Gerber, as in going downhill slowly.
I think it would be better to follow the same road as Spyderco and even Benchmade, especially the first one is always on top with using the best steels available.

Sorry if this has already been done,
the latest Seal 2000 listed with 440A steel, has it always been this steel?
Where are they made now? My Seal Pup is Seki made, are they still made there?

I'll jump in and say that I like SK-5 steel. Everything I need it to do, it does.
-- even though I'm "sharpening challenged" I am able to put lots of sharp on SK-5.
-- the occasional trace of rust (which occurs because I'm not paying attention) doesn't bother me.

I've never played around with any knife having CPM3V or S30V, and not until I read this thread had I ever heard of ZDP189. So I haven't a clue whether I'd like that steel or not.

Cheers,

Carl
