Hello,

I am new to the forum. I just got my max 4 scout.

It is perfect. If anyone interested I had no issues moving the clip on the other side for left cary (just a little tricky to get the screw going).

Please note I am using it all day so the thumb stud is a bit too hard. My finger slightly hearts at the end of the day. I am thinking about replacing it with something with some plastic or rubber on it. Or at least a bigger one.

Sorry for my English but I hope I manage to explain the problem.

I run small horse stable so really use this nice max 4 all day.

The other option is someone to let me the whole diameter and I can find something to fit in.

Thank you very much.

If you could use a "wave " type opener , there's this : https://www.snaggletoothmf.com/products/snaggletoothad10

you could always open it two handed.....as in pinch or grip the spine of the blade with thumb and fingers and open it.

also hold the handle slightly different to change the angle of your thumb opening with the thumbstud. different angles when opening make it much easier or much harder.

I'd try these idears, before I'd try to change the thumbstud.

Your thumb will toughen up with use. Soft hands will be sore for a while, then one day you’ll not even notice it.

A few things I'm wondering-

Is it possible the pivot screw is too tight?

Is the pivot lubricated?

If the pivot is too tight, or not lubricated, that could make it harder to open requiring more thumb pressure on the thumbstud.

Something else I'm thinking is- what about wrist-flicking the knife open? I have a Counter Point, which is about the same size (maybe a little smaller), same lock, and I can wrist-flick it open pretty easily.

Try some heat shrink tubing over the stud
Thank you very much. I actually did something similar using
bandage !

My next plan is to make my own thumb stud. I am planing to cut one from plastic and once I like it I will CNC something metal. I think that if I make the stud bigger it will be easier to use!
