Ive had my large seb 21 since the early summer and has been a great knife. It was great when i got it and did a great job at work (at least till i lost my job :() and has been a great edc. It is a great cutter and I find it very easy to maintain a great edge on it. Well it was getting a bit gritty and rathr than just popping a bit of il in I decided to tae out the blade for a quick cleaning (I hadnt done since the first month of having it). All I can say is wow. It is more smooth than ever before and is much better than when I originally got it. Maybe I forgot how smooth it was but it feels amazing now:). Got to make sure to clean it fully a little more often:)

Thanks for a great knife:)

Heres a pic of my seb :)

Great looking 21 sebenza. I have always prefered the regular sebenza to the 21, but all I have ever had is small 21's, maybe I should try a large sometime before I decide I do not like the 21 fully !!! I know on my large regular, when it gets tougher to open mostly because pocket lint and dust slows it down a little, I know its time for a cleaning. Also mine sometimes gets some slight oxidation around the pivot right near the handle and that slows it down a little. When I break it down to clean it, I go over the odidation with 0000 steel wool, its only ever like a dot here or there, nothing much. I rub the bronze bushings on a flat paper towel to clean off all the scum. Put it back together with some CRK lube and the sebbie is almost automatic fast after. I would say I do this every 2-3 months depending on how dirty it gets. I do edc it, but where I work, no knives are allowed, so it only gets carried heavily on my 4 days off.......I wish the P Sebenza style was easier to find. I love the regular blade profile, but like the 21 handle with the larger thumb opening. The P sebbie fits that bill nicely. But back to your statement, its amazing how a simple cleaning makes the knife feel better than new. Long Live The Sebenza :thumbup:

looks great I am still not content on the clip for pocket carry been using a sheath, the clip seems not so secure with my seb 21, suggestions?

Is the clip nice and tight against the frame ?? The one on my regular has lots of tension. If its lacking tention, you can take the slip off and slightly bend it down a little ( the end that bolts to the frame ), this will give it more tention. Mine is very secure clipped to my cargos pants, but I am still constantly checking it.....Maybe I have a little Sebenza OCD :D

I have a little ocd as well , it is tight to frame but..seems to pull out of my RF pocket a lot easier than any of my BM or spydercos

I have noticed that too. Depending on what I am wearing, it pulls out easier. If its in my cargos, its a much tighter, if its in my sweat pants, it pulls out alot easier......hence the ocd....:D

understood, looks like we just have to live with it. Love the old girl though, just have to be careful... thanks for you input.

should we start a thread for the clip for all of us with sabenza OCD? Love to hear others input, ideas... We all sure do not want do lose our knife

I know we are not alone with sebbie OCD, I am always checking it and I always think people in a store are going to think I am shoplifting because I am always checking my pocket......lol. I think its that way with any $400 knife though !

In time, an EDC Sebenza pivot's internal surfaces, including the detent ball against the blade, wear in nicely like the bearing surfaces in an engine after it's break in period. The result is an extraordinarily smooth pivot, void of blade play.

Enjoy!

Stupid question but I have seen "blade play" in a couple of threads and don't really understand the meaning of it.

Can someone elaborate for me?

Thx.

It's when the blade can be jiggled from side to side or up and down.

So when someone says don't blade play it means that you shouldn't try to jiggle it side to side or up and down.

I know blade play is a result but i didn't know it can be an action.

I've never heard "blade play" in that context. When someone says there's no play, all they're saying is the the lockup is solid and the blade doesn't budge.

Nice Sebenza, I think they get better looking with age as well, especially when the handles develop a nice even patina to them. I've seen some members who have speeded up the patina process, I believe it is done with a very fine sandpaper/washing technique, but I'm not certain. It looks great afterwards.
