Have you ever had this happen to you, saving up funds or waiting for a paycheck for that expensive folder or fixed blade.
When you see something much cheaper, making you doubt your purchase?

Right now I'm experiencing

Bark river Teddy II vs. Sur Tac 7 (TOPS)
$250-350 $187
Bark river is certainly better but the Surv Tac reminds me of the TGLB!

Of the two I like the bark river....
For the money though I'd get something handmade.

It happens every time I save enough for anything expensive, bit of a coincidence but I've just ordered a SURVTAC 7 while they're still available since they've stopped making them, the money was meant for another CQC7.

The handmade knives I've looked at were way past my budget I'd like to purchase one but, the price is a nail in my side.
I like blades with guards for some reason, guard fetish? :D

I think it's natural to have a little buyers remorse when you spend a decent amount of money on a non necessity like a knife.

Check out my site... right now I'm back ordered till February but can do plenty of stuff in that price range.

I also definitely have a guard fetish... a blade just looks incomplete without one.

Yeah I did check out your site, I think the Ultra utility is the style I prefer.
The Spalted Tamarind looks to me like bone, although I like Redwood, I lived up in Oregon and I'd walk the trails all the time!

I've got a few rules to help me go through my ever expanding wish list. When I've got money, I buy the rarest and most expensive item on the list that I can afford first. It's easier to find some funds for some of the cheaper items later on, and there's no hurry to get regular production knives that will still be available in the future (at least in the next few months).

I don't like the SURV-TAC 7, nor am I a fan of the bloke who designed it, but since it seems to have gone out of production in October, I'd get that one first.

I've saved for a good while for the Teddy II

The person who designed the Surv Tac is a liar about his past not sure if that goes into his design.

Wow... this is the first I've heard if this... boo on stolen valor. Now I definitely vote for the bark river.

I didn't want to derail your thread bringing that up, that's why I just said I wasn't a fan.

Anyway, I think the Teddy is the better knife.

What's that TOPS knife good for anyway? weird lookin' thing. Do you have a specific purpose in mind, or do you just want them (perfectly valid answer)?

Maybe there are other $200 knives you'd like too. :-)

Maybe use it when I walk the trails, not much to do here in the city
but on the trails..

Out of those two, I'd recommend the TGLB.

I see what your true desires are and what you're willing to spend..... Hang out on the for sale section here and you can snag one at the upper end of your price range.

Buy nice or buy twice.

I tend to categorize into 'urban' and 'rural' carry. If this is for a bush/trail knife, I'd say the Bark River hands down. The TOPS looks to me to be either a badass city carry or in the extreme 'SHTF survival' category.

Go with the KNIFE that makes you feel best, not the price---much better for long term satisfaction.

Yes there are, BTW the surv tac 7 & TGLB are off my list

Next week I'll be able to make the purchase!

But, I saw this.. Any info?
