What means or methods to correct bevel that was grounded to thin before heat treatment and what is correct bevel thickness before heat treating.

"Correct" bevel thickness is generally reckoned to be about the same thickness as an American dime. Peter's Heat Treat requests 0.015" minimum for air-hardening steels, and 0.03" for oil-hardening steels.

A bevel that was too thin before heat treat can sometimes be fixed by simply grinding material off the cutting edge. It depends on what's wrong with it, whether or not you can save it. Obviously, this needs to be done as slowly as possible, to preserve the heat treat. Especially at the tip, which will not tolerate any error in your grinding technique.
